Spotted on a blog

Here are some pictures of me from other people's blogs...
I am the one on the far left (the dog is my Stamp-O partner)

This is April's Sassy Girly Class photo from http://aprilstamps.blogspot.com
Mom & I wanted to take Becky but you know Aunt Sam couldn't just go and help so I got to make one too... Mine has been embellished a little bit more since the class. Becky had so much fun. She is really excited about coming over to the house and playing in Aunt Sam's stamp room and making more magnets. I have to put her off until I get my order of clear buttons in. :)

A Nice Surprise

Normally when my cell phone rings during work, it is Wade, and when it isn't I begin to worry. Today I missed a call from my father, John. I refer to him as Daddy. (For anyone wondering - the guy I call "Dad" is my step-dad, George.) I called Daddy a few days ago because when I was sick last week I kept dreaming that he was dead and no one told me. I began to worry so I thought I would be the nice guy and give him a call. He is doing good. Just complains about how much gas costs and that he can't afford to go anywhere. During the call he mentions that he was planning on calling me because he wanted Brookshire's to donate stuff for the Fishing Tournament that he is hosting for the youth of his church. So, I explain to him the donation process of BGC. Anyone wanting a donation has to submit it in writing. I also told him that mentioning me would not get him anywhere. SO he calls the donation person and talks to her (she happens to sit a few cubes away from me - so I know her). She told me that he talked about how sweet I was and how I was his baby - blah, blah, blah... that is so not him - at least not the him I know. I love him because he is my father. But ever since the whole falling out a few years ago I just can't seem to let myself believe that he is a great guy. I used to always think that I was the only one who really knew him that everyone else just didn't love him the way I did so they just didn't understand. THAT was until the whole "disowning" of me. That time was so awful for me. He told me that he wanted everything he had ever given me - including all of the love that he or anyone in his family had ever give me. He told me he wanted his name back - that I could just go by Samantha. Things have gotten better since then but I don't think it will ever go back to the way it was. I really hope he tells me the "family secret" before he passes, because he is the only one left from that part of my heritage.

Ok... now that I have completely gone off into left field... the nice surprise.
I tried to call Daddy back after the missed call but he didn't answer so I checked my voicemail. He had left me a message saying "I need your email address, there is something in the Marshall Newspaper that is really going to surprise you, but I can only send it to you on email." So, I get online and go to http://www.marshallnewsmessenger.com/ and see that there is a little tiny picture of my Aunt Fish and my Mamaw under the headline "Inside Marshall - Marshall's Past"
The picture that made me smile...

Aunt Fish is on the left in the back row. Mamaw is on the right in the front row.

Blogging

So, I have my own blog (obviously) and I am trying to be a good blogger. I was inspired to start blogging by my good friend, April. I was reading her blog (heartlandfamily.blogspot.com) and randomly clicked on a blog that she had read. I read every post on the blog. Who would have thought that reading about someone else's life would be so interesting? I don't even know the woman or her family. But it was nice to see all the pictures of her new baby as it was getting older. I am sure that I am not the only person that reads random people's blogs but it sure does make me feel like I am a weirdo. I don't want people to think I am crazy. Has anyone else ever read a personal blog that belonged to someone they had never met?

Today was a very stressful day at work. This week was supposed to be an easy week. I only had one big project on my to do list. But now... the week is going to be crazy. I have to admit, I like to be busy, but I hate when my life becomes crazy stressful because someone doesn't have "time" to do their job. Getting to work late and then leaving for 4 hours and then going straight into a meeting doesn't really leave a lot of time to get your work done. Tomorrow will probably end up being a crazy day but I am leaving on time. Despite what people at the office might think, I have a life outside the office!

Time to continue the project of the night.

Sam

Big Brother 9

I am watching the finale. They just announced the winner and I am so excited. I don't want to say who won just in case April has it saved on her Tivo and hasn't watched it yet. I have to say it kinda sucks that the season is over because now there will be no Big Brother: After Dark. I never would have thought that watching people doing nothing would be so interesting. BB 10 premiers July 13. I think I may need a countdown clock for that! I know I will be watching more After Dark when that season starts because it is super fun to know stuff before it is shown on the regular episodes. I am so happy about who won the juror thing. Absolut is barking so I am guessing there is some evil animal in the front yard and I have to investigate. (it is probably the little dog from across the street that he likes to play with) :)

Kids

I don't have any kids of my own, and that is ok for right now. I do have two step-kids that live with their mother, but we don't get to see them very often. My husband has some major issues with their mother do we don't get to be involved in their day-to-day lives. I would love to go see them for school events. I don't even know if they play baseball or soccer or go to dance class. I am trying super hard to get W to get over his issues so we can be involved in their lives. They have a step-dad that they call Dad and they call us by our first names, which is fine by me but W needs to step up and get more involved.

Today is one of those days that really make me want to have kids. I want to have to a round little red headed girl. I know that we aren't ready yet and I know that we aren't garunteed to get a girl, or that she would be red headed. Mom & I went to HP's dance recital. She is 3 and it was her first recital. We stayed for most of it and there were several little red-heads. AND then we went to J's first teeball game. He played so good. He got three really good hits and fielded the ball like a champ.

A & J are spending the afternoon with us. We are all in the living. Me blogging, Mom watching TV and the kids playing with fun foam. We went to Michael's earlier and found these super cool foam glasses, foam hats and a bucket of gittery foam shapes. J is now sitting in the recliner with me. He just said "what should I do now?" He is now engrossed in the trailer of Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. A just finished her hat so now it is picutre time.

I guess I better go prepare the next craft - we are going to make treasure chests with jewels. If I can figure out how to post pictures - those will come later.

As Always,
Sam

Dinner

My husband cooked dinner tonight and I am talking about a wonderfully delicious dinner. The meal consisted of a casserole of his own creation. He is normally a very good cook but when he starts making stuff I tend to get worried. He called the meal "Alfredo Bake". The casserole contained alfredo sauce, fetticini noodles, grilled chicken breast, parmesan cheese and white cheddar cheez-its. YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! The cheese sauce was so thick that is coated the noodles with cheesy goodness. mmm... We had broccoli on the side just so we could call it a balanced meal.

I was sick yesterday so I didn't go to work. It really sucks when you miss a day and go back with a ton of stuff still on your desk left to do. I know this sounds selfish but I would love to come back to work one day from a sick day and have all of my work done for me. When other people are out, their work gets done. Sometimes I think people just call in sick just because they don't want to come in and they know someone with do their work for them. I especially hate when someone calls in sick because their kid is sick. I don't have kids so I don't know what it is like BUT all of the hourly people seem to find a way to get to work even if their kid is sick. Oh... that's right... the hourly people are always there becuase their number of hours worked DIRECTLY affects their paycheck. I have never worked as a salaried worker but living as a clock puncher for so many years - I will not take advantage of being on salary.

Sam's Scrapbooking thought of the moment: If you use a button - there should be SOMETHING through the holes. Well, it at least needs to LOOK like there is something in the hole. You can tie a knot of ribbon and the adhere it with a glue dot - I am totally ok with that but please don't leave a naked button.

As Always,
Sam
